Step into the land of Ha'ami...
This land does not welcome strangers.
Traditions and laws of warriors are everything.
You can't be different.
You have to fit in.
You have a role to fulfill. Your tribe is everything. The Chosen People destined to rule the world.
Brotherhood. Loyalty. Strength. Those are the only values to live by.
And if you disobey, you have to pay the price.
But what if...
What if you are one of the lost travelers who suddenly found themselves in the unknown territory?
What if you are one of the cursed nonhumans, despised and feared by the mighty tribe?
What if you are a girl, who is not accustomed to taking orders?
What if you are a... talking horse?
And what does a dead, but very much present in spirit dragon have to do with all of this?
Welcome to the realm of 'The Lizard'!
Buckle up.
The journey will be bumpy!
You will meet...
Eli
Unhurriedly, she rose from her seat, licking the spoon in her hand. She stood with her feet on the bench, making her the same height as the guardsman who had first approached her. She pointed the cutlery at him.
‘All is as it should be,’ she proclaimed. ‘I am a warrior capable of defeating you or anyone else in this hall.’
Ha’akon
The horse panicked at the movement and it took the girl a moment to get him under control.
‘Slowly... I have to introduce you,’ she said, cuddling up to the snow-white mane. ‘Simronil, this is Ha'akon. The lord of this castle. He is not the worst here...’
‘Not the worst? That's a description I've never heard before.’
Tallen
He seemed so pale that he was almost translucent. His light, long hair hung in matted strands soaked in sweat and blood. And yet, still, despite all the shabbiness, some intangible beauty emanated from him. However, this creature represented everything that every Ha'ami had been taught since childhood to hate to the point of obsessive fear.
The non-humans.
Ha’teng
His smooth skin had not a single blemish, not a single wrinkle, although his eyes betrayed that he was of a similar age to his companion. The proportions of his face and body seemed to have been drawn by an artist obsessed with a vision of the ideal human figure. He seemed to regard her as if she were an inferior creature. His mouth, pouting with sarcasm, was the only imperfection in this flawless image.
Temina
‘Welcome back, Tiger Slayer!’ the strange woman welcomed her cheerfully.
Her straight black hair was cut short, combed to the right and shaved above the ear on the left side of her head. But it was her eyes that stood out the most. Large, dark blue, like all the Ha'ami she had met. Yet completely different. Bright, playful and... friendly?

“The Lizard. The Girl with No Name.” is an absolute gem that deserves a place on every fantasy lover's bookshelf! With its captivating world, compelling characters, and masterful storytelling, it's a read that lingers in your mind long after you've turned the last page. The author's expressive style is both poetic and accessible, immersing the reader in a world of fantasy while maintaining an effortless readability. Dialogues are witty, funny, engaging, and authentic, making it easy to connect with the characters and their individual journeys.
I can't wait to see what this talented author brings next as it seems this book is just the first of a sequel!
A very well written book on what is sure to be a fantastic series. It keeps you guessing right till the end! The outstanding character development and details transport you straight into Eli's world and you just can't help but be invested in her plight. The stark difference between the highly disciplined, rules oriented warrior nation of Ha'amis and the soft spoken and wise elven community sets the tone for the story. I particularly liked how the seemingly one dimensional characters were later shown to be much more multi dimensional and relatable as their background stories came to light. I have so many questions regarding the cliffhanger at the end of the book. Just can't wait for the next part in the series!
To me, 'The Lizard' is not only a journey through a captivating fantasy realm inhabited by humans and non-humans; it is also a reflection of today’s real-world problems, such as authoritarian regimes, discrimination of the weaker, or gender inequality. What truly impresses me is how these weighty subjects are interwoven into the fantasy land of Ha'ami and into the storyline full of breathtaking adventures with twists and turns. I am also a big fan of the author’s sense of humor, which makes every page a delight to read. ‘The Lizard' is not only a page-turner; it’s a beautifully written book, full of magic, secrets, and hidden life lessons to be discovered.
